MARCO MAKE THE GRADE AT ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
The UK’s leading manufacturer of wire mesh cable tray, Marco Cable Management, has been short-listed at the prestigious North Wales Daily Post Achievement Awards.
Only three businesses made the grade in the HSBC sponsored Medium Business Awards category with Marco facing stiff competition from long established and larger business. The Marco team joined over 350 other guests at the gala dinner held at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.
North Wales Daily Post Editor told the audience: “You are here to celebrate – and celebrate you should. You are here because you are performing brilliantly well, because you have made the short-list of our business awards, which have attracted the biggest and best crop of entries for years.”
Marco was launched only five years ago by leading industry figure, Ian Macgregor, who has since grown the business to become UK market leader with a multi-million pound turnover.
Ian said; “These awards really are considered to be the Business Oscars of North Wales and to make the top three in the Medium Business Award category is a huge achievement for myself and the entire team.”
He added: “We strive to continue to make a big impact both locally and nationally, building on our 50-plus workforce and expanding and growing our business and product range in line with market demand.”

STRUT CLIP LAUNCH ADDS WEIGHT TO MARCO PRODUCT RANGE
The UK’s largest manufacturer of wire mesh cable tray, Marco Cable Management, has launched the Marco Fast Fix Universal Strut Clip (product code MCFUSC).
This latest product from Marco further strengthens the company’s extensive range of cable management products, introducing a captive clip that will quickly and easily secure the wire mesh cable tray to the strut, making installations faster and easier, saving the contractor time and money.
Supplied in packs of 50 and with a free screwdriver, the strut clip secures the wire mesh cable tray with just one turn of a screwdriver and is ideal for new build and re-fit schemes, where unistrut supports are specified. Made from spring steel, the strut clip has a hexavalent-chromium free Geomet finish. The Geomet finish is the modern, highly protective alternative to dacromet, and is increasingly popular on small parts in preference to a hot dip galvanised finish.
Brian Pigott, General Manager said: “At Marco, our objective is to be responsive to market demand. This strut clip is an important addition to our current range, and allows the contractor to gain a speed and time advantage compared to traditional nut and bolt fixings”.

MARCO ADDS STRENGTH TO VOICE OF UK MANUFACTURER AT BEAMA
The UK’s largest manufacturer of wire mesh cable tray and manufacturer of a range on uPVC 3 compartment and data trunking, Marco Cable Management, has joined the BEAMA-Installation arm of BEAMA, the British Electro-technical and Allied Manufacturers Association.
The move by Marco comes at a time when the current market for the supply of cable management products is made up of predominantly foreign owned businesses. Marco is now set to promote the views and opinions of a UK privately owned manufacturer in this sector as the company continues to grow and expand its operation.
A hugely significant organisation, Marco is keen to become a very active member of BEAMA-Installation and General Manager, Brian Pigott, will be the Marco representative in all matters relating to the group.
Brian said: “This is an important step in the continuing development of Marco Cable Management in the cable management sector. It further demonstrates Marco’s willingness to take a prominent and centre stage role in the industry and to promote British manufactured solutions as amongst the best.”

WASTE NOT FOR MARCO
The UK’s leading manufacturer of wire mesh cable tray, Marco Cable Management, has announced plans to introduce a zero waste initiative for all internal and external operations.
As part of the initiative, electrical contractors that are retro-fitting a building and using a Marco trunking product, are encouraged to return the old UPVC trunking (regardless of the original manufacturer) to Marco for recycling and re-processing into good production.
Ian MacGregor of Marco said: “We recognise that we can extend our sustainability policy beyond our own business and re-use some of the refurbishment waste, re-processing the material to manufacture other products of the highest possible standards”.
“There are also benefits to the contractor and site management company, who, by being part of the scheme, are supporting their bid to achieve a high BREEAM rating or other accreditations.”
During five years of continued and sustained growth, Marco has developed a system whereby almost zero% of all raw materials purchased end up in land fill. For example, the company regrinds any below-par production and re-cycles the material.
In terms of wire mesh cable tray, any scrap produced, (of which there is very little) is sold locally for reprocessing. Marco production is UK based, reducing the ‘product-miles’ and carbon footprint – the company estimate that Marco trays travel at least 300 miles less than the trays of its competitors.
Ian MacGregor added: “With the ability to form angles, tees, risers and other items on site, the environmental impact of using wire mesh cable tray, compared to using traditional trays is significant as the reduction in the number of components needed can be breath-taking, especially when the installer considers the additional financial and environmental costs of ordering, transporting, storing, and using those additional components.”

The UK’s leading manufacturer of wire mesh cable tray, Marco Cable Management, has scooped an award celebrating the company’s commitment to employing individuals classed as being at a disadvantage within the workplace.
The achievements of Marco were recognised at a recent awards ceremony, held by young people’s charity, Agoriad. The company were presented with both the regional and overall award for its work with cerebral palsy sufferer, David Stuart, who is employed in the firms manufacturing department.
