Elite Hygieia

COVENTRY LIFT - HILLFIELDS HEALTH CENTRE

Marco, the UK’s largest manufacturer of Steel Wire Cable Tray, and uPVC Cable Management Company, has supplied over 2,000 metres of Elite trunking with Hygieia protection, an innovative antimicrobial solution, to contractors at the new Coventry LIFT, Hillfields Health Cente.

Hygeia forms part of Marco’s latest generation of trunking range and has been designed specifically for use in envionments such as hospitals and schools where any spread of infection must be controlled.

Designed using silver ion technology to create a defense against 99.9% of harmful bacteria growth, Hygieia offers built in protection from (and prevents the growth of) bacteria, fungi, mildew and moulds, including MRSA, E-Coli, Salmonella and Klebsiella Pneumoniae.

The antimicrobial compound is incorporated into the uPVC during manufacture, becoming an integral part of the trunking. This ensures no degradation of performance if the surface becomes scratched or damaged as there is built in protection throughout the system.

Anil Sarda of Marco Cable Management said: “This is a relatively new product offering for us and it’s fantastic to sit it in-situ at a prestigious project such as this.

“The Hygieia range was introduced following ongoing discussion with members of the NHS who explained how we could help them meet their objectives in terms of controlling infection through our products. This is a fantastic addition to our range and one that we are seeing a huge growth in demand for.”

M&E contractor, MJN Colston, are carrying out all installation works at the £22.5 million scheme as part of the Galliford Try supply chain. The new Centre is due to be completed early 2012.

The former Hillfields Health Cente has now been demolished and replaced by a new five stoey, 10,181 sq m, health facility. Once open, the Hub will include GP practices, the city’s Walk-in Centre, out of hours service and a wide range of community and city wide services alongside a pharmacy, community café and space for a range of clinics and services.

Coventry Care Partnership which is providing the new Centre, is a LIFT Company (LIFTCo), which is owned by NHS Coventry, Community Health Partnerships and gbconsortium, a consortium of companies led by Assura LIFT Holdings, with Galliford Try as lead contractor. The Partnership was set up specifically to build patient focued primary care facilities in Coventry.
